“Gods, that was good!” Duke Benedict exclaimed. “You two should consider changing professions; if the weaver’s trade declines, you’ll always be able to please a man.”
“Did we please you, Your Grace?” Gwenna asked sweetly.
The duke guffawed. “Did we please you, she asks? Lass, there are professionals here in Lower Kaye who couldn’t have done it better.”
Gwenna pressed. “As we were kind to His Grace, will he be kind to us in turn?”
The duke stood. He guffawed again. “Yes. Gods, yes! All you want is clemency for Leotis Dyer? Done. But you gave me two mouths, two quims, and two puckers. It doesn’t seem an even exchange. I’ll grant clemency to five more, one for each hole.”
“His Grace is most generous, but we only came for our brother.” Said Morna.
“Very well. I’ll give you some extra silver for your trouble.” Unperturbed by his state of undress, he called for his guard.
Captain Victoria entered the room. “Your orders, Your Grace?”
“Send a detail to the Underkeep to bring Leotis Dyer. He’s been officially pardoned. And order my steward to requisition a sack of sixty kopins from the treasury for services to the crown.”
